About the Author
Mark R. Hunter lives in Albion, Indiana, with his wife Emily, their gargantuan dog Baeowulf, and a cowardly Royal (Ball) Python named Lucius. He’s an emergency dispatcher for the Noble County Sheriff’s Department, and serves as instructor and Safety Officer for the Albion Volunteer Fire Department. He has served on the Albion Town Council, Plan Commission, and BZA. He enjoys reading, writing (of course), and outdoor activities like hiking and canoeing. He loves history, science fiction, and making really, really bad puns.
That’s the easy stuff: his more hazardous occupation was raising two daughters.
Mark R. Hunter is the author of “Slightly Off the Mark”, a humor column that appeared for more than twenty years in three northern Indiana newspapers; he also did news and feature articles. In his spare time he writes fiction and laughs about the idea of having spare time.
Mark’s novel Storm Chaser is a romantic comedy published in 2011 by Whiskey Creek Press. They also published Storm Chaser Shorts, an anthology of short stories with the same characters, and are currently reviewing the anticipated sequel to Storm Chaser.
Mark’s local history book, Smoky Days and Sleepless Nights: A Century or So with the Albion Volunteer Fire Department, was published on July 20th, 2013 as a fundraiser for the Albion Fire Department, which he’s served on for three decades.
He’s won numerous writing awards for fanfiction under the penname Ozma914, working in fandoms under public domain or where permitted by the original creators.
Finally, Mark does pro bono work for several non-profits, including the Noble County Historical Society and the Albion Fire Department. He has been recognized with two appreciation awards from the Noble County Relay for Life for his promotional work.
